GQ mocks Special Olympics and supportive conservative

By idaflo | May 24th, 2010 | No Comments »

Extreme smugness does not reflect well on the writers/editors of any publication, especially when the object of their disdain is not only unable to defend themselves, but would only respond with charity if given the opportunity; thus proving  THEIR  superiority over the self-absorbed liberal snobs at GQ.

It was a cheap, even sloppy shot, poorly thought out, poorly aimed, the nozzle of their gun shooting them and not their intended targets,  Blount and the special needs folks.

Dr. Gina Loudan, keep talking. May others heed your suggestion so that perhaps in the future, GQ will go the way of Newsweek, and so many other skewered publications – on their way out because nobody wants to waste the time to read them anymore.

Obama and the New Normal By Robin of Berkeley

By idaflo | May 22nd, 2010 | 1 Comment »

You will find as you grow older that courage is the rarest of all qualities to be found in public life.” Benjamin Disraeli

Robin of Berkeley is one of my favorite columnists.  A self-described recovering liberal and psychotherapist in Berkeley, Robin is one courageous lady. Every time she posts anything on The American Thinker, I post a link to it, wherever I can; I want others to read what this deep,  insightful, even brilliant woman has to say.

Thank you, Robin of Berkeley.

Her latest article is linked HERE.  But here is an intro. to it,  just the first few paragraphs:

American Thinker - thinker paintingThe human brain is a complicated organ. It can be infinitely pliable but also maddeningly rigid.

Humans can be slow to recognize signs of imminent disaster. While red flags are flapping wildly in the wind, the person ignores any and all warnings.

But the brain can be highly suggestible, too, easily controlled and shaped by advertisers and spin doctors. Thus, after countless ads, a person associates soda with Coke, search engines with Google. And after having “Yes we can,” burned into their neural pathways, all hope and change is connected to Obama.

That’s why it’s crucial to notice all the “firsts.” Because once something is repeated often enough, it becomes the New Normal….(continue reading here)

The Appalling Media Double Standard on Reporting Political Violence

Scared yet?

The Appalling Media Double Standard on Reporting Political Violence

May 7, 2010- by Bob Owens

When it comes to leftist violence, the media sees no evil, hears no evil, and especially speaks no evil.

During the recent health care debate in Congress, the media was quick to latch on to every perceived slight or hurt, real or imagined, directed at Democrats. They offered wall-to-wall coverage of phoned-in threats of violence against Democratic representatives, even as they hastened to downplay the stray bullet that crashed through an office belonging to Republican Eric Cantor.

These same media outlets were quick to pounce on reports that a handful of Democratic offices were vandalized, and they seemed to relish in discussing the glory-hound, former militia leader who sought to claim credit for the handful of broken windows.

The message from the media was clear: any violence against their liberal allies will be broadcast far and wide, and any threat or slur will be published as fact, no matter how dubious the claim.

The reverse, sadly, is not true, and that is not a recent development….(article continues here)

Conservatism in Motion

By idaflo | May 6th, 2010 | No Comments »

Just one more place on the internet to include this bit of information.  These folks are intelligent, informed, committed and will be around and active LONG after November.  This is not a movement propelled by fads, but one grounded in deep conviction. This is a groundswell that will leave its imprint on the course of history.

Who am I watching most closely?  That would be  HERMAN CAIN in 2012.

NYT discovers record number of black Republicans running for Congress (From HotAir)

posted at 11:36 am on May 5, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

For the past year, the national media has attempted to paint the Tea Party movement and opposition to the Democratic agenda as based in racism, a reaction to the election of the first African-American President in November 2008.  As the New York Times discovers, the reality of the opposition makes that very difficult to believe.  Republicans have fielded a record number of African-American candidates for Congress, most or all of which have entered those contests with enthusiastic Tea Party support.  And for that, the candidates credit … Barack Obama?….(article continues here)
