The first pictures of David and Samantha Cameron’s baby daughter Florence have been released.

Florence’s full name is Florence Rose Endellion Cameron

Florence was born in the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro on Tuesday after Mrs Cameron gave birth earlier than expected.

The prime minister and his family are in Cornwall on a two-week summer holiday.

Mrs Cameron and Florence left hospital on Friday and Mr Cameron has said he will take paternity leave….(continue reading HERE)

Niger hunger ‘worse than 2005’

Niger is now facing the worst hunger crisis in its history, the UN’s World Food Programme says, with almost half the population – or 7.3 million people – in desperate need of food.

A WFP spokesman said villagers in Niger described the situation as worse than 2005, when thousands died of hunger.

After a prolonged drought, heavy rains have now hit parts of the country, killing at least six people.

The WFP says 17% of children, or one in five, are acutely malnourished. Read More »

Pakistan to monitor Google and Yahoo for ‘blasphemy’

Pakistan will start monitoring seven major websites, including Google and Yahoo, for content it deems offensive to Muslims.

YouTube, Amazon, MSN, Hotmail and Bing will also come under scrutiny, while 17 less well-known sites will be blocked.(Continue reading here)

Restorers used new laser technology to uncover the images

Art restorers in Italy have discovered what are believed to be the oldest paintings of some of Jesus Christ’s apostles.

The faces of Apostles Andrew, John, Peter and Paul were uncovered using new laser technology in a catacomb in Rome.

The paintings date from the second half of the 4th Century or the early 5th Century, the restorers and Vatican officials believe the images may have influenced later depictions of Christ’s early followers.…(continue article here)
