This Is for You, Joy Behar! A Woman’s Journey from Liberal to Conservative

Joy Beharby Jim Lakely  on October 28, 2010

Forgive the indulgence, but my wife sent me the following email today. She had to get this off her chest, in writing, to clear her mind for painting in her studio. And I think it’s a great story: One woman’s decades-long journey from indoctrinated liberal to free-thinking conservative.

These are the kind of women that Joy Behar insulted — and probably enraged, if my wife is any guide  — when she called Nevada Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle “a bitch” who should “go to hell.”

In the spirit of Robin of Berkeley, here is the rest of thisMUST POST and link-to article by Jim Lakely.

And my response follows:

Dear Mr. Lakely,  I believe Joy Behar is an extreme example, just another “hood ornament” for strident liberalism/feminism. Great stuff here, your family is blessed twofold; BOTH of you share a gift for writing. Sets off a storm of thought, since all the information on your wife’s evolution/transformation resonates with my experiences since college. Read More »

On Politics and Being a Pastor’s Wife

By idaflo | October 26th, 2010 | 2 Comments »

Man and Woman with subtext: "Why tell us about it?"

How can a pastor’s wife be so political? First, I come by it organically; my family is devotedly Republican, thus my roots. People I love and deeply respect have become involved politically, and they have made a difference. Real experience has not jaded my perspective.
But why me? Don’t I fear being divisive and offending people at church? Sure, that is a concern. But I make no apologies any more. (Even though I don’t “talk politics” at church. I AM careful.)
But again, why?
When we moved to California, I attended a few community Republican meetings, to ‘take the temperature’ and see what was being said and done in the state and her GOP. Read More »

EVIL RICH PEOPLE! (Election Shenanigans)

By idaflo | October 19th, 2010 | No Comments »

The latest from Steven Crowder.  The people who are being maligned and “fought” by the Obama administration, are people like this…hard working, salt-of-the-earth types.

Obama’s Un-Presidential Despicable Race Baiting

By idaflo | October 13th, 2010 | No Comments »

OBAMA RIPS AMERICABy Lloyd Marcus (at American Thinker)

Question: When you squeeze an Orange, what comes out? Answer: Orange juice. Why? Because that’s what’s inside.

Obama is being squeezed by polls predicting a Republican landslide in November. Adding to Obama’s pressure is his lethargic base’s apathy about voting. So, what came out of our so-called, “post racial” president? Despicable, manipulative and evil race baiting….(article continues here)

Obama and the Evil Squatters

American Thinker logoBy Robin of Berkeley (at American Thinker)

“God is dead,” according to the existentialist Nietzsche. He might as well have been talking about Berkeley, California.

Think I’m exaggerating? Take a trip out west and spend a few days on Telegraph Avenue. Then wander over to the downtown area, Shattuck and University. If you’re really the daredevil, do so after dark, when the mean streets look positively Kafkaesque.

When I say God is dead in Berkeley, I don’t mean just that parts of the city look like a hellhole. I’m referring to the militant anti-God vibe. While Berkeley has always had its atheists, a shift has….(continue here)

(Mollie Ziegler Hemingway) Code name Esther

Queen Esther as pictured on CPH Archbook

By Mollie Ziegler Hemingway at GetReligion.org

One of my favorite religion stories this week was this New York Times tale of intrigue and computer coding. I know I’m always calling for more and/or better coverage of the role religion plays in everyday life. But this was just too exciting:

Deep inside the computer worm that some specialists suspect is aimed at slowing Iran’s race for a nuclear weapon lies what could be a fleeting reference to the Book of Esther, the Old Testament tale in which the Jews pre-empt a Persian plot to destroy them.

That use of the word “Myrtus” — which can be read as an allusion to Esther — Read More »

Political Correctness: Morality’s Poison Pill

By idaflo | October 2nd, 2010 | No Comments »

Although it is not safer nor sane to give blanket approval to any group of folks (fallen humanity and all that…you know, sin) — when it comes to the folks at American Thinker, I have not yet encountered anything written that didn’t  resonate with my deeply held core beliefs.  Even if I should disagree with what one of the writers is saying, I still appreciate the opportunity to read what these deep-thinkers write.

Thanks American Thinker for serving internet truth seekers everywhere.

There is much talk, and much to say, about what ails America, but one problem, certainly, is political correctness, which along with “tolerance” has become entrenched in daily life. Tolerance and its cousin diversity have become hegemonic in society, a dominant narrative which undermines dialogue with respect to truth. It’s one thing to be civil and to strive for compassion, and quite another to deem it offensive to judge behavior, regardless of whether that judgment is sound…(continue reading here)

Where’s my Congressman? Clint Howard Plays The Perfect Fearful Democrat

By idaflo | October 2nd, 2010 | No Comments »

Ron Howard is an outspoken Liberal in Hollywood.  His brother Clint, however, is not.  This is not Clint’s first offering to the “cause”, but  it is my favorite thus far…from First Patriots.
