Diana West: Russians still obscure Polish airplane crash

By idaflo | August 16th, 2010 | View Comments

This story has been foggy since day one.  Legitimate questions beg for answers so that truth may be known and  justice served. The victims deserve as much. The more we read about this story, the more confusing it becomes. (Story is also covered HERE at BIGPEACE.COM)

Polish airplane crash site

By: Diana West Washington Examiner Columnist – August 13, 2010

It’s never been clear what really happened on that foggy morning of April 10 when a Polish airplane crashed on a Russian runway, killing all 96 people aboard, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski, Cabinet ministers, military service chiefs, intelligence officials, the central bank president, parliamentarians and historians, decapitating the conservative government and gutting the country’s elite. Don’t Cry for Me, Barack Obama

By idaflo | August 15th, 2010 | View Comments

I always look forward to posting anything Robin of Berkeley has to say.  Once again, she does not disappoint.
Today, instead of americanthinker.com her words come to us from David Horowitz’s NewsRealBlog.  A brief aside about David; I saw him speak while we lived in Northern, California.  In that presentation and in everything I’ve heard or read of him since, it feels as though he is such a smart guy, even his yawns merit college credit.

Obama teary

by Robin of Berkeley at NewsRealBlog

Apparently Obama broke down weeping during the funeral of civil rights leader, Dorothy Height.  This sight left me strangely unmoved.

This is peculiar because I cry at almost anything. If there is a random stranger bawling on the street, my waterworks start flowing. Just last week I had a meltdown after my husband, Jon, and I went to the local pound.

A Dr. Doolitte type, Jon rescued some stray mutt, nestled her in our car, and together we brought the pooch over to a local shelter. When we said goodbye to the whimpering animal, I melted in a pool of tears. Exasperated, Jon not only had to deal with the dog’s slobbering, but mine as well.

Yet, seeing the photographs of our blubbering President left me feeling ice cold. I’ve asked myself, why? The reason: because this man cares not a whit about you or me. Read More »

Two things of note in this revelation. The first is the astonishing number of Democratic House members who not only belong to the Socialist Party of America, but even more incredible, don’t mind if people find out about it. Read More »

Niger hunger ‘worse than 2005′

By idaflo | August 14th, 2010 | View Comments

14 August 2010 from THE BBC

Niger is now facing the worst hunger crisis in its history, the UN’s World Food Programme says, with almost half the population – or 7.3 million people – in desperate need of food.

A WFP spokesman said villagers in Niger described the situation as worse than 2005, when thousands died of hunger.

After a prolonged drought, heavy rains have now hit parts of the country, killing at least six people.

The WFP says 17% of children, or one in five, are acutely malnourished. Read More »

The recently discovered relics of St John the Baptist have been laid in state in Bulgaria’s Sozopol after a transfer processing which brought much excitement and euphoria in the Black Sea town.

The relics, which include part of an arm bone, a skull bone, and a tooth, were found in a sealed marble reliquary in the St. John the Forerunner Church on the St. Ivan Island near Sozopol on July 28, 2010, by the team of archaeologists led by Prof. Kazimir Popkonstantinov.

The procession led by the Bulgarian Orthodox Bishop of Sliven Yoanikiy brought the relics of St. John the Baptist from the St. Ivan Island to the St. George Church in the downtown where they were laid in state.

Thus, the holy relics have been officially transferred from the archaeologists to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. Read More »

Simon Dodd (@ExSimon) defines Third Wave Feminism

By idaflo | August 14th, 2010 | View Comments

Simon Dodd or @ExSimonGreat stuff there Simon, thanks for sharing the insight.

On Saturday 14th August 2010, @ExSimon said:

@sistertoldjah that kinda-sorta connects with a discussion I had yesterday with @elsbet about the Cassy Fiano piece you retweeted yesterday. Fiano’s broader point, I suggested (and I may simply be superimposing my own view over Fiano’s argument), is that, feminism went wrong by ceasing to be femiNINEism. That is, it shifted its goal; instead of seeking to make the feminine equal to the masculine, as second wavers had, third wave feminism abruptly changed direction: it wanted to open masculine behavior to female participation. Thus, women could be equal to the extent that they acted in a masculine paradigm, and equality meant that society didn’t prevent them from doing so. Read More »

VIDEO Project Truth : A Youth Defence Project

By idaflo | August 14th, 2010 | View Comments

Moving, yet fact-filled presentation.

This pro-life advert was previously banned by the Irish government who said it was too ‘political’ for the airwaves. Now Project Truth, first produced by Youth Defence in 1996, has been set to some amazing footage of the unborn child in the womb. It’s challenging, thought-provoking, beautiful and sad. Show it to your friends. Spread the message.

Is Islam Really the Second-Fastest Growing Religion?

By idaflo | August 11th, 2010 | View Comments

Islam The religious makeup of the world is changing, but the media’s focus on the West is causing many to be blind to Islam’s losing of ground in the third world.

At PajamasMedia.com – August 10, 2010 – by Ryan Mauro

It’s a stated fact everywhere from the media to academia to churches: Islam is the second-fastest growing religion. It will become the biggest religion during this century. Christianity is going out of style and Islam is the new kid on the block. We hear it from those wanting to give the Muslim community a bigger voice; from those complaining about Western ignorance; from those trying to put Islam on the same plane as Christianity and Judaism; and even in churches decrying the lack of evangelical fervor among the congregation.

But is it really true? ….

…Christianity is changing into a smaller but more devout and active force…”.(article continues HERE)
