I appreciate the insights Steven Boyer shares in his article. Again we see that sometimes the medium does not serve the message.
Like so many families, we loved reading The Chronicles of Narnia, both together and as individuals, thus the movies were eagerly anticipated. The boys hoped they would be as good as the films of Tolkien’s books had been.

Forgive the indulgence, but my wife sent me the following email today. She had to get this off her chest, in writing, to clear her mind for painting in her studio. And I think it’s a great story: One woman’s decades-long journey from indoctrinated liberal to free-thinking conservative.
These are the kind of women that Joy Behar insulted — and probably enraged, if my wife is any guide — when she called Nevada Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle “a bitch” who should “go to hell.” …

On Politics and Being a Pastor’s Wife
How can a pastor’s wife be so political? First, I come by it organically; my family is devotedly Republican, thus my roots. People I love and deeply respect have become involved politically, and they have made a difference. Real experience has not jaded my perspective.
But why me? Don’t I fear being divisive and offending people at church? Sure, that is a concern. But I make no apologies any more. (Even though I don’t “talk politics” at church. I AM careful.)

One of my favorite religion stories this week was this New York Times tale of intrigue and computer coding. I know I’m always calling for more and/or better coverage of the role religion plays in everyday life. But this was just too exciting:

Political Correctness: Morality’s Poison Pill
Although it is not safer nor sane to give blanket approval to any group of folks (fallen humanity and all that…you know, sin) — when it comes to the folks at American Thinker, I have not yet encountered anything written that didn’t resonate with my deeply held core beliefs. Even if I should disagree with what one of the writers is saying, I still appreciate the opportunity to read what these deep-thinkers write.
